A funny thing happens

When you first start to blend your family, it is a bizarre feeling to be with your partner and their kids, while your kids are with their mom/dad. So you try to come up with little ways to connect with your partners kids, all the while feeling like something is missing. And there is something missing. Your kids.

Then after a while, when it is just your partner and your kids, one day you look around and find there is something missing. And you realize that there is something missing; your other kids. The ones that you don’t have to love, but you choose to love, because they make it so easy. And you find that they are a part of your life, a part of your soul, and they are YOUR kids too. Things only feel 100% complete when everyone is in one house, together.

There is something magical about loving your partners’ kids. It makes you humble; it makes you a better person. It makes you want to set a good example. It makes you love your partner even more. It is a blessing.

This is great and I am so proud of you! We are 1.5 years into blending a family and not even near this. But you make it look so easy and I know it is hard work! Thanks for the encouragement!!
