The Red String
Red String
There is a legend in Japan that says two people who are destined to be together are bound by a red string tied to their pinkies. The string may become tangled, knotted, messed up, but it can never be cut. Eventually, those two people will find each other again. The legend says that couples are united by the red string of destiny, and that everything that occurred before uniting is nothing more than a plot through the route of string that would end up reuniting them.
I love the idea of this.
I met my husband Matt over 20 years ago at a picnic.
Matt and I went on a hike last weekend. There is something so settling about being out in the woods, breathing in the fresh air, looking at the moss on the ground, smelling the leaves, holding your lovers hand. It occurred to me that, at that very moment, being in the woods with Matt was my destination. Holding his hand, looking at his beautiful face, kissing his cheek, he is my destination. Every decision I have made in my life has led me to this. It is amazing. Startling. Scary. Satisfying.
Thank you red string.
I love your blog.

Love you Margaret!
Yes! I love & believe in the idea of this. I met my husband in 1985 at Crestwood Mall. We were friends for years but lost touch after he moved to Boston. Fast forward to 2009, we reconnected & here we are.
That’s awesome!!
